Meet Paul Gittens, MD, FACS

Sexual Medicine Specialist

Paul Gittens, MD, FACS is a board certified urologist and former assistant professor in OBGYN — fellowship-trained in sexual / hormonal medicine and microsurgery.  He is an expert in the treatment of sexual dysfunction for men and women, and a specialist in male and female menopause and male infertility.

He founded the Philadelphia Center for Sexual Medicine to provide patients a place where they can discreetly address their sexual medical concerns. An expert in the field, Dr. Gittens takes the time to provide an unmatched level of individualized care by listening to his patients and devising personalized treatment plans.

Prior to PCSM he was an assistant professor of urology and obstetrics and gynecology, and was the director of sexual dysfunction, male fertility and andrology at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He received his postgraduate general surgery and urological surgery training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Gittens went on to complete one of the most highly regarded fellowships in sexual and reproductive medicine where he focused on reproductive medicine, sexual dysfunction, hormone replacement and microsurgery.

For his male patients he specializes in the treatment of low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, chronic testicular pain, the placement of penile implants, Peyronie’s disease, premature ejaculation, and penile rehabilitation after radical prostatectomy and radiation therapy. He also treats men with a history of anabolic steroid use that have problems with infertility, decrease libido and sexual function.

For women he specializes in female sexual medicine which includes low sexual desire, pain with intercourse and hormone replacement therapy. He also treats women for symptoms of menopause, vaginal dryness and he has a sexual health after cancer program dedicated to women who have been treated for breast cancer or a number of other conditions. Dr. Gittens is one of a small number of physicians using the MonaLisa Touch Laser with great success in treating vaginal atrophy.

Dr. Gittens is an easygoing clinician with a warm, open personality. He is serious about the treatment of sexual health and hormonal problems and believes everyone deserves to live their lives without the fear and anxiety that comes along with sexual dysfunction. Dr. Gittens prides himself on the discreet and personalized care each of his patients receives. He encourages all his patients to be open to starting a journey to better sexual health.
